- Leadership & Strategic Oversight:
- Lead the development and execution of the organization’s strategic plan, in collaboration with the Board of Directors, to advance its mission and goals.
- Act as the primary face of the organization, nurturing relationships with key partners, sponsors, and the broader community to ensure continued engagement and support.
- Lead a high-performing team, fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, and collaboration.
- Critical Reporting & Financial Oversight:
- Maintain comprehensive and transparent financial reporting, ensuring the organization operates within its budget and adheres to best practices for nonprofit financial management.
- Regularly prepare and present critical reports to the Board of Directors, including detailed financial summaries, program updates, and key performance indicators.
- Work with auditors, accountants, and finance teams to ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, including tax filings and audits.
- Develop and implement robust internal controls to mitigate risks and safeguard organizational assets.
- Operations Management:
- Oversee day-to-day operations, ensuring the seamless delivery of all programs and services.
- Lead organizational compliance with all local, state, and federal laws and regulations related to nonprofit operations, fundraising, and employment practices.
- Manage human resources, including recruitment, training, performance management, and staff development to build an empowered and effective team.
- Fundraising & Development:
- Develop and execute a comprehensive fundraising plan, securing funding from diverse sources such as grants, individual donations, corporate partnerships, and fundraising events.
- Cultivate relationships with key donors, sponsors, and grant-making organizations to ensure sustainable revenue streams.
- Identify new opportunities for funding and partnerships that align with the organization’s mission.
- Governance & Board Relations:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for the Board of Directors, preparing detailed, timely reports on the organization's activities, financial health, and operational status.
- Support the Board in fulfilling its governance responsibilities, including strategic planning, oversight, and succession planning.
- Ensure all board meetings are effectively prepared with the appropriate documentation, financial reports, and performance updates to support informed decision-making.
- Experience: Minimum of 4 years of progressive leadership experience, with a strong background in nonprofit management or organizational leadership. Experience with financial reporting, compliance, and strategic planning is essential.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree suggested; an advanced degree in nonprofit management, business administration, or a related field is preferred.
- Skills:
- Proven ability to develop and manage transparent, detailed financial reporting systems.
- Strong organizational skills with a demonstrated ability to implement and monitor systems for tracking financial, operational, and programmatic metrics.
- Extensive experience in fundraising, including developing strategies for securing large-scale grants and cultivating major donors.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of delivering detailed reports and presentations to the Board, funders, and other key stakeholders.
- Strategic thinking and the ability to balance long-term goals with day-to-day operational needs.
