Physician Affiliate Group of New York (PAGNY) is adding an Optometrist to the group at NYC Health Hospitals/Metropolitan. Metropolitan Hospital accommodates over 313,000 outpatient visits, nearly 70,000 emergency room visits and more than 13,000 inpatient admissions annually. Responsibilities

Perform comprehensive eye exams to screen for refractive errors, and eye diseases such as cataracts, glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, ocular degeneration, etc.

Refer patients to subspecialty clinics as needed.

Perform dilated Fundoscopy.

Manage eye disorders as part of the eye service team.

Prescribe eyeglasses, contact lenses, and medications as needed.

Provide treatments such as vision therapy or low-vision rehabilitation.

Providing pre-and postoperative care to patients undergoing eye surgery as needed.

Demonstrates knowledge of the privacy and security rules outlined in the HIPAA guidelines.

Adheres to and conforms to all hospital and departmental guidelines, policies, and procedures.

Function under the direction of the Department of Ophthalmology.

Optometrist hired for the full-time position will continue to staff a monthly Saturday and an evening ophthalmology clinic.
Qualifications

Doctor of Optometry (O.D.) Degree

1 year of residency (Recommended but not required)

New York State License

Annual Salary: $140,400

The annual base salary listed is for full-time employment and does not include bonuses/incentive compensation or benefits. Total compensation depends on many factors, including experience, specialties, historical productivity, and historical collections. Actual total compensation may differ.
