Triage Medical Assistant
The CMA – Triage is part of a multi-disciplinary team and is responsible for triaging patient calls as well as performing a variety of specialized and complex clerical/clinical duties in support of practice physicians.
Required to maintain a working of knowledge medical terminology and medical necessity guidelines within a medical setting. Required to articulately communicate and document patient needs and requests, must keep abreast of scheduled workload at all times and be able to set priorities.
Serves as liaison between patients, staff, physicians, hospital departments and other professionals to ensure optimal direct patient care.
Education
High School diploma or GED required. Medical Assistant diploma or certification from an accredited vocational institution, or community college required.
Licensure/Certification
Certification as a Medical Assistant required
Experience
Previous triage experience in a physician office or clinical setting such as a hospital unit, medical practice preferred.
