The Medical Receptionist is the first point of contact for patients and plays a crucial role in ensuring a positive experience in our healthcare facility. This position involves managing front office operations, including scheduling appointments, patient check-ins, and processing medical records, all while maintaining a professional and welcoming environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Greet and assist patients and visitors in a friendly and professional manner.- Manage incoming calls, direct them to appropriate staff, and answer basic inquiries.- Schedule and confirm patient appointments, ensuring optimal use of time.- Maintain patient records with accuracy and confidentiality.- Collect and verify patient information, including insurance details and medical histories.- Handle billing and payment processing, as well as resolve any billing inquiries.- Coordinate communication between healthcare providers and patients.- Ensure the front office area is clean, organized, and stocked with necessary supplies.- Assist with medical transcription, as needed.- Support clinic operations by performing clerical tasks, such as filing, data entry, and preparing reports.- Follow HIPAA regulations and maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education in healthcare is advantageous.- Previous experience as a medical receptionist, healthcare administration or related fields preferred.- Proficient in using electronic health record (EHR) systems and medical software.- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to multitask.- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.- Ability to maintain a calm and professional demeanor in a fast-paced environment.- Knowledge of medical terminology and insurance processes is a plus.- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
