JOB TITLE: Sr. Electrical Engineer
DEPARTMENT: Engineering
REPORTING TO: Chief Engineer
Founded in 1955, Piasecki Aircraft Corporation (PiAC) is a research and development business specializing in design, fabrication and flight testing of experimental rotorcraft and unmanned air vehicles. Piasecki has developed and flown more than 25 different advanced VTOL and UAV aircraft and continues to develop cutting-edge vertical flight technologies.
SUMMARY:
The Piasecki Aircraft Corporation Electrical Engineer is responsible for leading and/or participating in design projects, including the development, procurement, testing, integration, and certification of electrical and avionics systems for PiAC products. This role also involves supporting existing designs and introducing innovative solutions to enhance PiAC's aircraft systems.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead design projects to achieve system development milestones and FAA certification of aircraft and aircraft systems.
- Design circuits, software, and avionics systems/subsystems for incorporation in the aircraft.
- Manage technology roadmaps, testing activities, integration schedules, and mentoring of junior engineers.
- Serve as a technical lead for FAA-related topics, including certification and testing.
- Provide expert-level skills in software solutions, including RTOS, embedded systems, and firmware.
- Drive optimization initiatives related to obsolescence, reliability, affordability, and maintainability.
- Collaborate across engineering disciplines to ensure project success.
- Act as a project engineer for departmental initiatives and design projects.
- Present progress updates and technical briefings to executive management.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES:
- Strong understanding of aircraft avionics architecture and system design.
- Excellent project management and leadership skills.
- Advanced proficiency with MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Project).
- Effective technical writing and communication abilities.
- Ability to adapt to various work environments, including proof-of-concept, flight test, and production.
EDUCATION / CERTIFICATIONS / CLEARANCES:
Required:
- Bachelor s degree or higher (BSEE or BSCS preferred) or equivalent aerospace or related field work experience.
- Minimum of 5 years experience in hardware and software development in an aerospace environment.
- Minimum of 5 years experience in aircraft avionics system design, including software aspects.
Preferred:
- Experience with project requirements and systems engineering processes.
- FAA certification experience.
- Proposal development and product refinement expertise.
