PIC Group has an excellent opportunity for a Control Room Operator to support a 50MW test facility that burns natural gas with near zero emissions. The plant uses oxy-combustion in a super critical CO¬2 atmosphere that turns a turboexpander to produce electricity while inherently capturing the CO¬2. This facility is in La Porte, TX. The Control Room Operator will report to the Operations Manager and is responsible for plant operations, maintenance, and overall plant support services. The Control Room Operator will play a vital role in monitoring, adjusting and ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of the plant’s systems and equipment.

Key Project Requirements
- 3 Years of Control Room Operator (CRO) Experience – Proven experience operating and monitoring power plant systems to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable plant performance.
- Experience with Plant Safety Procedures & LOTO (Lockout/Tagout) – In-depth understanding of safety protocols, emergency response, and equipment isolation procedures to ensure a safe working environment and prevent hazardous situations.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Operate and monitor plant systems and equipment with minimal guidance.
- Communicate plant conditions, unusual events, and equipment issues to the Operations Manager.
- Direct Auxiliary Operators during startups, shutdowns, and abnormal operations.
- Conduct equipment inspections, tests, readings, and performance monitoring.
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance as assigned.
- Utilize CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) for work orders and documentation.
- Perform lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures and operate circuit breakers for isolation and maintenance.
- Respond to chemical spills, leaks, and emergency situations per safety protocols.
- Maintain compliance with safety standards, procedures, and environmental regulations.
- Participate in safety meetings, training, and operational improvements.
- Perform and direct equipment isolation in accordance with plant lockout/tagout procedures
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Operations Manager and Plant Manager.
- Strong operational and mechanical understanding of power plant systems.
- Experience with mechanical, instrumentation, and electrical equipment.
- Ability to lead, train, and mentor other operators.
- Knowledge of plant safety equipment, LOTO procedures, and emergency response.
- Strong problem-solving and critical decision-making skills in emergency situations.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical procedures, policies, and schematics.
- Ability to stand, walk, climb ladders/stairs, crawl, and lift up to 20 lbs.
- Exposure to extreme heat, cold, and industrial environments.
- Frequent use of PPE (hard hats, safety glasses, ear protection, air masks, etc.).
- High school diploma or GED equivalent is required.
- 3 years experience as a Control Room Operator or equivalent plant required.
- Prior experience in chemical facilities, cogeneration, or other power plant experience, preferred.
