The Control Room Operator will be responsible for managing plant equipment from within the control room, ensuring the safety of personnel and equipment during start-up, operation, and shutdown procedures. This role also involves providing input on operational and maintenance activities, plant improvement projects, and compliance with contract obligations. The Control Room Operator will work closely with plant management to maintain performance, safety standards, and operational efficiency.

Job Summary:
PIC Group is seeking an experienced Control Room Operator to oversee the safe and efficient operation of a 543 MW combined-cycle plant in Maine. The Control Room Operator will be responsible for managing plant equipment from within the control room, ensuring the safety of personnel and equipment during start-up, operation, and shutdown procedures. This role also involves providing input on operational and maintenance activities, plant improvement projects, and compliance with contract obligations. The Control Room Operator will work closely with plant management to maintain performance, safety standards, and operational efficiency.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Monitor and operate equipment, circuit breakers, and switches as required for safe and efficient plant operations, including opening, locking, and tagging for isolation and maintenance.
- Perform start-up, operation, and shutdown of equipment, systems, and the plant in accordance with approved plant procedures.
- Collaborate with the Load Dispatcher to maintain optimal plant performance and output in alignment with the Power Purchase Agreement.
- Monitor, record, and adjust plant operating parameters as needed inside the control room to maintain safe and efficient operation of the plant.
- Identify faulty equipment operations, diagnose issues, and take corrective action to restore safe plant conditions
- Monitor plant air and water emissions and take steps to maintain within acceptable limits. Immediately notify Shift Supervisor and/or plant management of abnormal situations, including those that may result in violation of regulatory requirements.
Job Requirements:
- Ability to read and understand corporate programs, policies, procedures, plant drawings, and instructions specific to the Operations & Maintenance Agreement.
- Proven ability to make competent decisions in emergency situations.
- Mechanical, instrumentation and electrical equipment knowledge is required.
- Demonstrates knowledge of all facets of power plant operations.
- Demonstrates good verbal and written communication skills.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to walk, reach, climb, stoop, and lift (up to 75 pounds).
Education / Experience:
- A high school diploma or GED is required.
- GE 7FA and D11 turbine experience preferred
