JOB PURPOSE:
Manages the Plant Engineering Department, including staffing, scheduling, workload prioritization, cost
management, maintenance and quality control. Plans, directs and monitors strategic and tactical goals for
all activities related to facilities management and constructions in collaboration with clinical and
operational stakeholders. Responsible for maintaining buildings, grounds and equipment. Ensures that
the physical plant operates in a safe and reliable manner, while complying with all applicable codes and
regulations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Takes an active role in setting annual and long-term goals and objectives for the department,
which are consistent with the mission while striving to cut cost and improve patient satisfaction.
2. Prepares and submits the annual budget and capital needs in a timely manner and monitors the
approved budget in order to control and reduce cost.
3. Coordinate maintenance of life support systems, safety systems, HVAC and basic utility systems
in compliance with Environment of Care Standards to insure quality of care.
4. Plans for and oversees major repairs, renovations and new construction. Serves as liaison
between facility and contractors during construction cycles.
5. Develop, update and implement department policies and procedures as they address staffing,
maintenance, life safety and disaster plans.
MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED:
Bachelors Degree required OR in lieu of degree, equivalent experience equal to six (6) years of
experience beyond the minimum experience required.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Seven (7) years of experience in healthcare engineering or related field required.
MINIMUM LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED BY LAW:
None.
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Masters degree preferred.
CHFM (Certified Healthcare Facilities Manager) preferred.
General Contractors license preferred.
Previous experience in facility planning preferred.
