Reports To: Resident Services Manager
Status & Salary: Part-time, non-exempt, $18/hour
PRIMARY FUNCTION
The Resident Services Community Outreach Assistant provides exceptional support for community outreach activities and programs at Piedmont Housing communities with a primary focus on youth and the Kindlewood community. This role involves fostering meaningful relationships with participants, coordinating resources, managing volunteers, and ensuring the successful delivery of programs that inspire growth, education, and empowerment among residents at Piedmont Housing Alliance.
The Community Outreach Assistants work closely with the whole Resident Services team and the JEDI Manager to ensure collaboration and alignment across community activities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Program Development and Implementation
- Plan, coordinate, and execute activities and events that align with Resident Services objectives.
- Develop and manage activity schedules, volunteers and resources.
- Design and evaluate age-appropriate activities that promote personal development, leadership, and community engagement.
2. Youth Engagement
- Build positive relationships with youth participants and serve as a mentor and role model.
- Create an inclusive and supportive environment for diverse youth populations.
- In collaboration with the JEDI Manager actively engage youth to assess needs and interests for youth
3. Volunteer, Community, and Stakeholder Collaboration
- Support the Resident Services Manager in recruitment, training, and coordination of volunteers.
- Establish partnerships with schools, community organizations, and other stakeholders.
- Promote programs and networking to increase participation and awareness within the community.
4. Administration and Reporting
- Maintain accurate records of program participation, outcomes, and feedback.
- Prepare reports on program effectiveness and present them to leadership.
- Ensure compliance with organizational policies and applicable regulations.
5. Actively engage in regular team meetings across the organization and work to build a positive and cohesive culture and develop your skills individually.
- Engage in ongoing skill-building training sessions including JEDI (Justice, Equity, Diversity, Inclusion) topics.
- Strengthen organizational culture by engaging in full staff activities, contributing to a culture of openness and respect, and actively identifying, evaluating, and dismantling the beliefs and structures that perpetuate racial inequities.
- Assists with special projects as assigned and other tasks deemed necessary to achieve overall goals and to operate a successful program.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Successful experience with community outreach.
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Ability to speak a second language a plus.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Experience working in diverse communities with a clear understanding of multi-cultural contexts and racial equity practices.
- Familiarity with basic computer systems.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Knowledge of and ability to engage with Kindlewood residents.
- Interest in and skills for community outreach work.
- Ability to support resident services staff.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation (if required).
- Ability to successfully pass a background check and other pre-employment screenings.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Able to lift & carry items up to 15 lbs.
- Able to sit at a desk comfortably while working on a computer, for extended periods of time.
- Able to hear and speak to clients in person and/or by phone.
- Able to see and read on computer screen and paper.
- Able to use hands and fingers to operate office equipment such as a computer, copier, phone, postage meter, etc.
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time with breaks.

Pay: $18.00 per hour
Expected hours: No more than 20 per week
