Piedmont Medical Center seeks a skilled Medical Laboratory Technician to join our team in a full-time night shift position. In this role, you will play a vital part in the diagnosis and treatment of patients by performing various tests on blood, body fluids, and tissues.
The ideal candidate will have an Associate's degree or equivalent experience from an accredited school of medical laboratory technicians. Previous experience as a medical laboratory technician is preferred, but not required. Registry-eligible candidates with plans to become registered with an approved certifying agency (ASCP, AMT) within one year of hire are also encouraged to apply.
Responsibilities of the Medical Laboratory Technician include:
- Performing technical procedures in clinical laboratory department subsections under the general supervision of departmental section supervisors
- Receiving, processing, and distributing specimens appropriately and timely
- Properly storing specimens for further testing as needed
- Assisting with training new employees and students
- Maintaining equipment and supply inventory
- Adhering to laboratory and hospital policies and procedures
