Safety/Maintenance Technician
Job Summary:
Piedmont Metals is seeking a Safety/Maintenance Technician with a strong background in the steel manufacturing industry. The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of experience ensuring equipment reliability, maintaining workplace safety, and complying with OSHA and industry standards. This role is critical in maintaining a safe and efficient work environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on manufacturing equipment, including welding machines, conveyors, and overhead cranes.
- Conduct routine safety inspections and audits to ensure compliance with OSHA, NFPA, and company safety policies.
- Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues to minimize downtime.
- Maintain and repair facility infrastructure, including ventilation, lighting, and fire suppression systems.
- Assist in safety training programs and ensure employees follow proper safety procedures.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance and safety inspections.
- Respond to emergency maintenance requests to keep operations running smoothly.
- Collaborate with production and safety teams to implement continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or associate’s degree preferred in the industrial maintenance & welding technology.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in maintenance and safety within the steel manufacturing industry.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations, machine guarding, and lockout/tagout procedures.
- Proficiency in troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
- Experience with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems) is a plus.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical manuals.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work in a physically demanding environment, including lifting up to 50 lbs.
