Job Summary:
Piedmont Metals is seeking a detail-oriented and strategic Procurement Specialist to manage sourcing, purchasing, and supplier relationships. This role will be responsible for ensuring the timely and cost-effective procurement of materials and services, maintaining optimal inventory levels, and supporting production operations through efficient supply chain management.
Essential Functions:
- Source, evaluate, and negotiate with suppliers to obtain competitive pricing and quality materials.
- Process purchase orders and maintain accurate records of procurement transactions.
- Monitor inventory levels and collaborate with production and warehouse teams to forecast material needs.
- Ensure timely delivery of materials and resolve any supply chain disruptions.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with vendors and suppliers.
- Conduct market research to identify new suppliers, cost-saving opportunities, and industry trends.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, industry regulations, and supplier agreements.
- Work closely with finance to manage procurement budgets and track expenses.
- Assist in contract negotiations and supplier agreements.
- Maintain procurement documentation and prepare reports for management.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in procurement, purchasing, or supply chain management, metal industry preferred.
- Strong negotiation and analytical skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and procurement software.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of manufacturing and metal fabrication industries is a plus.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit for extended periods and work on a computer.
- Occasional lifting of materials up to 25 lbs.
- May require visits to supplier facilities and manufacturing areas.
