Job Summary
The Production Scheduler plays a critical role in ensuring efficient operations within the manufacturing environment. This position is responsible for developing and maintaining production schedules that align with customer demand, resource availability, and production capabilities. The ideal candidate will leverage their expertise in plant management and supply chain systems to optimize production flow and enhance overall efficiency.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Plan and establish the weekly production schedule based on the master schedule by monitoring and analyzing multiple sets of data (production, shipping, inventory) to maintain an efficient and accurate production schedule
- Lead Plant Scheduling meetings
- Issue/receive work orders and maintain work order control/accuracy
- Coordinate with manufacturing for work allocation and requisite changeovers
- Monitor raw materials and finished goods inventories and cycle counts
- Lead cycle count program and report any discrepancies to the Master Scheduler
- Support tasks associated with inventory control as required
- Track progress of production; review factors which affect schedule and make appropriate adjustments
- Report any raw material concerns to Purchasing and the Master Scheduler to ensure sufficient raw materials are available for production needs
- Coordinate with Shipping to ensure timely production and delivery; address shipping exceptions as required
- Coordinate with Engineering for set-ups, BOMS and product specifications
- Coordinate with Maintenance Manager for scheduling preventative maintenance based on Master Schedule
- Coordinate inter-company exchange of raw materials, equipment, and finished goods
- Follow all safety protocols and procedures, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment
- Participate in training and development activities as needed to improve skills and knowledge
- Other related duties as assigned
Skills and qualifications
Required:
· Minimum of 2 years of scheduling experience in a manufacturing environment
· Excellent communication skills in English (written and verbal)
· High level of attention to detail
· Self-confident in a manufacturing environment
· Excellent computer software literacy with Visual, Access, and Excel
· Excellent organizational skills
· Strong work ethic
· Self-starter attitude
· Practical experience with MRP/ERP systems
· Familiarity with supply chain management
· Developed leadership skills would be an asset
Physical Requirements:
- Must be capable of heavy lifting - Up to 50 lbs.
- Strong physical dexterity and hand-eye coordination
- Able to stand for extended periods of time.
- Ability to hear, understand and distinguish speech and/or other sounds (machinery, alarms, etc.)
- Near Visual Acuity – Clarity of vision at approximately 20 inches or less (i.e., working with small objects or reading small print), including use of computers
- Far Visual Acuity - Clarity of vision at 20 feet or more. This is not just the ability to see a person or object, but the ability to recognize features as well.
- Peripheral Vision - Observing an area that can be seen up and down or to right or left while eyes are fixed on a given point.
