Hours vary, typically 2 - 6 hours per week, evening and / or weekends.
This temporary (extra-hire) position is not eligible for County benefits.
Position Summary

Are you someone who loves the sport of hockey and wants to support the next generation in learning and loving the sport as well?
Then this position may be for you! We are looking for someone who will teach Ice Skating and Hockey to youth, ages 4-17. The ideal candidate is someone with a proven track record of coaching youth hockey and who has their USA Hockey Level 1 Certification. You must also be a current member of USA Hockey. It is preferred that you have an AA, AAA, Junior, College or Pro Playing Background.
Duties and Responsibilities :
- Instruct Ice Skating and Hockey Basics in a USA Hockey Learn to Play Format
- Maintain a safe, clean, and family-friendly environment
- Assist customers in the event of an injury
- Performs other related job functions as assigned

Extra hires are eligible to receive sick leave in accordance with the WA State Minimum Wage Act. Extra hires are not eligible for other County benefits.
Social Security
All Pierce County employees are covered by the federal Social Security and Medicare systems. The county and the employee pay an equal amount into the system.
Retirement and Deferred Compensation
Pro-tem Judges in District Court, Pro-tem Superior Court Commissioners, Extra Hires with Retirement, and Work Study Students with Retirement are eligible for Retirement and Deferred Compensation and Social Security.
