Driver – San Marcos Office
Pierre Landscape is currently looking to hire a Driver/Yard Assistant for our San Marcos Office. This opportunity would be best suited for an individual with driving experience and an interest in the construction field, preferably landscape construction. The position requires a motivated, goal-oriented individual who is committed to safety, teamwork, and delivering high-quality service.
The purpose of this position is to follow company policies and procedures related to the pick-up and delivery of equipment and materials from various locations. This role also involves performing yard assistant duties, maintaining equipment, and ensuring all deliveries are completed in a timely manner while complying with traffic laws and collaborating with the field staff to ensure safety and productivity.
Core Job Responsibilities:
- Possess a Class A or B license from the state of California.
- Take orders for new deliveries and maintain a delivery schedule.
- Drive long distances across various counties.
- Operate a dump truck with a trailer to deliver goods and materials.
- Operate Skid Steer, Mini Ex, Dingo, or similar equipment to load and offload from the trailer.
- Fasten chains or binders to secure loads on trailers.
- Manage drive time to maximize on-time deliveries.
- Fuel all equipment prior to delivery.
- Load and unload equipment or cargo not requiring a two-man operation.
- Ensure time cards are completed accurately and on time for processing.
- Inspect the truck and trailer before and after trips, reporting any defects found.
- Complete Goals and Controls timely and accurately each month.
- Report to Supervisor any incidents encountered on the road.
- Follow all applicable traffic laws and road safety regulations.
- Monitor road conditions and watch for traffic congestion.
- Maintain a log of trips for tracking and reporting purposes.
Additional Yard Assistant & Maintenance Duties:
- Yard Maintenance: Assist in maintaining the yard by organizing equipment, materials, and tools. This includes daily inspections and proper storage of all assets.
- Equipment Maintenance: Perform basic maintenance tasks on trucks and equipment, including checking fluid levels, tire pressure, and other daily pre-trip inspections.
- Cleaning and Organizing: Keep the yard and equipment clean and organized to ensure safety and productivity. This includes washing trucks and equipment as necessary and removing debris from the yard.
- Assist with Yard Inventory: Track and manage inventory of tools and materials to ensure that the necessary equipment is available and in good working condition for delivery and field work.
- Assist Field Teams: Support the field teams as needed, including ensuring all equipment is properly loaded/unloaded and is in optimal working condition.
Education & Experience:
- High School Diploma or trade school certification.
- Valid Driver's License.
- Experience operating Skid Steer, Mini Ex, Dingo, Power Buggy to load and offload trailers is a plus.
- Experience with John Deere and Toro equipment preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Work environment consistent with that of a construction or heavy equipment yard and repair shop.
- Occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to stand for long periods with frequent bending and stooping.
Work Environment:
- Field and Yard environment with exposure to adverse weather conditions, including heat, cold, wind, rain, dust, and dirt.
- Monday – Friday, 5:00 AM – 1:30 PM, with overtime as needed.
