Essential Job Functions:
- Test Planning and Design
- Understand and interpret functional and technical specifications.
- Develop test cases and test scripts based on requirements and design documents.
- Contribute to the creation of test plans and test strategies.
- Test Execution
- Execute automated and manual test cases on PPRBD’s websites and internal Windows applications and report results.
- Identify, document, and track software defects using Azure DevOps and other tools.
- Conduct regression testing, performance testing, and usability testing as required.
- Collaboration
- Work closely with developers, business analysts, and other stakeholders to understand project requirements and resolve defects.
- Participate in daily stand-ups, sprint planning, and retrospective meetings.
- Documentation
- Document test procedures, results, and other relevant information.
- Assist in creating and maintaining comprehensive test documentation.
- Continuous Improvement
- Stay updated with new testing tools and test strategies.
- Perform related duties and responsibilities as required.
Qualifications:
Skills:
- Basic understanding of software development life cycle (SDLC) and software testing life cycle (STLC).
- Familiarity with test management and bug tracking tools (e.g., Azure DevOps, JIRA, TestRail).
- Knowledge of Ranorex or other automated testing platforms a plus.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Mobile app testing a plus.
Ability to:
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work. This will include immediate supervisor, supervisors of other departments, and regular employees.
- Work directly with the supervisor or employee who is either requesting a system change or having a technical problem. Not all requests will be filtered through a department supervisor.
- Work alone for extended periods of time with minimal supervision; work as part of a team.
- Work with other members of the IT department to coordinate major system changes or upgrades.

May have to climb ladders or flights of stairs or crawl around in tight spaces. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. One to three years of increasingly responsible testing experience. Must possess knowledge of testing methodologies and technologies. Familiarity with electronic equipment, internet applications and security may also be required. Need good communication skills because this position requires frequent interaction with PPRBD staff.
The Software Tester I designs, builds and maintains manual and automated tests for PPRBD’s websites and Windows based applications using industry best practices and testing tools. This position works alongside the Software Tester II, Software Developers and Business SMEs to determine the system areas to be tested. The Software Tester I will perform the entire series of required tests to include but not limited to: Functional Testing, Regression Testing, and Automated Testing. Work is performed under the general direction of the IT Director with guidance from the Software Developers and Software Tester II.
