What are the responsibilities and job description for the PRODUCTION OPERATOR position at Pilkington North America Inc.?
Specific Responsibilities/Essential Functions
- Operators are responsible for producing various products in accordance with all work instructions, quality, and safety expectations.
- Perform equipment setup, change over processes, and minor maintenance on equipment.
- Produce glass products in accordance with all SOP’s and customer specifications.
- Cut, pack, and store glass per SOP’s.
- Ability to adjust equipment using measuring tools to ensure produced parts meet internal and external customer specifications.
- Load/Unload product and/or material and supplies as required and specified.
- Pack finished product according to customer requirements.
- Operators are responsible for adhering to work standardization and associated training requirements.
- Previous fork truck experience or ability to obtain a fork truck certification.
- Required to assist in training of others.
- Adhere to 5S and housekeeping standards and responsible for clean-up of work areas upon completion of tasks.
- Other duties as assigned.
Desired Skills
- Mechanical aptitude
- Ability to utilize a Human Machine Interface (HMI)
- Basic knowledge and experience with hand tools
- Basic math skills
- Ability to read a ruler and work with fractions.
Education/ Requirements
- High School diploma or GED
Physical Demands:
- Occasionally lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Occasionally exposed to plant environment including noise, dust, dirt and vibrations, extreme climate changes / changes in weather
- Willing to work shift work and assist in other areas of department or site as needed.
- The incumbent must be able to work rotating 12 hours shifts.
