Welcome to the role of Panel Shop Technician. In this position, you will build electrical controls panels to specifications for internal and external customers. This position will work within a wide range of industries and applications to include but not be limited to: energy, commercial and industrial.
What You'll Do
- Build and wire control panels according to CAD drawings and bill of materials
- Maintain a clean and organized shop area
- Maintain inventory levels
- Assemble control panels and enclosures, mount components on panels, and perform electrical tasks such as wire cutting, stripping, soldering, crimping, and testing of finished panels
- Prepare finished control panels for shipment
- Assist with on-site installs
- Perform electrical troubleshooting
- Exercise safe electrical practices
Working Conditions
- Walk / use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls / reach with hands and arms / climb ladders and stairs / crawl / kneel
- The employee may regularly lift and/or move up to 75 pounds
- Perform duties on-site and underground at industrial locations
- Required to wear safety equipment: as per OSHA/MSHA requirements including but not limited steel toed and/or metatarsal shoes, hard hat, lanyard, fire retardant, protective eye wear, etc.
- Must be safety and customer-focused, without exception
What You'll Bring
- High School diploma or its equivalent with previous years of experience in the field or related area
- Graduate of a technical school with emphasis in electrical work is a plus
- Ability to work under minimal supervision, within broad guidelines of procedures and goals
- Ability to differentiate color codes
- Able to read and comprehend electrical schematics
- Basic knowledge of electrical theory and shop standards
- Be able to use tools such as pliers, knives, hacksaws, wire strippers and other small tools
- Solid work ethic
- Ability to effectively communicate with co-workers, customers and vendors
- Verbal and written communication skills with the ability to maintain professionalism among co-workers and customers
- Must be dependable; trustworthy; and possess a positive and productive attitude
- Willing and able to work a flexible schedule that includes extended hours
