What are the responsibilities and job description for the Body Shop Technician position at M&K Truck Centers?
M&K Truck Centers is expanding, and we're on the lookout for skilled Body Shop Technicians to become a vital part of our growing team. Our technicians are responsible for repairing the body of trucks to ensure they meet quality standards and customer satisfaction.
Job Responsibilities:
Repair vehicles per estimate and according to manufacturer standards.
Review damage reports, prepare or assess repair cost estimates, and plan the work to be performed.
Check parts against estimates and ensure proper parts are ordered and received.
Prepare vehicles for body repair work, including sanding and protecting areas for painting.
Fit and weld replacement parts into place using wrenches and welding equipment; grind down welds for a smooth finish with power grinders and other tools.
Remove damaged sections of vehicles using metal-cutting guns, air grinders, and wrenches; install replacement parts using wrenches or welding equipment.
Notify management of any additional repairs needed or difficulties that may affect the quality of the job or the promised timeline.
Fill small dents that cannot be worked out with plastic or solder.
File, grind, sand, and smooth filled or repaired surfaces using both power tools and hand tools.
Maintain and wear all required personal protective equipment, including respirators, as recommended by the manufacturer.
Cooperate and assist other personnel in the repair and preparation of vehicles.
Operate all tools and equipment in a safe manner.
Job Requirements:
Minimum of 2 years of body collision experience
Must own necessary tools.
Strong working knowledge of all aspects of body repairs for vehicles and trucks.
Experience in repairing and painting fiberglass.
Welding, frame, and unibody straightening capabilities.
Keen eye for detail and quality results.
Ability to work inside cabs and engine housings.
Valid driver’s license; CDL is a plus.
ASE certification in truck body repair is a plus.
