Job Overview
The Estimator is responsible for accurate and timely preparation of cost estimates and proposals for foundation construction projects under the supervision of the EVP and Co-Founder of the company and will routinely interact with the company President, EVP, VP Operations, Operations personnel, clients and vendors.
The Estimator prepares bids, drafts proposals, evaluates vendors/subcontractors, conducts takeoffs and maintains the estimating/pricing model to ensure competitive profitable performance and drive revenue generation for the company.
The future career path for this position includes learning cross-functional skills as an Assistant Project Manager to gain increasing responsibility as Project Manager.

Responsibilities
- Prepares estimates for commercial proposals by working with Operations, vendors/subcontractors, senior management, and client representatives to develop proposals based on estimating standards, performance feedback data and scope of work
- Analyzes scope documents including construction drawings, specifications, bills of material, historical data and calculates project costs including materials, equipment, manpower requirements and resource/performance schedules
- Performs risk analysis and recommends cost-reduction and performance optimization options
- Presents estimates and draft proposals to senior management in a timely and professional manner
- Creates and maintains an estimate basis model incorporating optimum regional pricing, crew performance metrics and historical project data
- Conducts pre-contract / pre-construction meetings with PM, Superintendent, Project Coordinator and Field Supervisors to detail bid parameters and plan project execution strategy
- Strong critical-thinking, problem solving, analytical and organization skills
- Exceptional attention to detail and prioritization skills
- Expert capability and modeling experience in Microsoft Excel
- Excellent verbal and written communication
- Ability to interpret and synthesize complex data sets, charts, tables and drawings
- BS in Engineering, Construction Management, Computer Science, Business or similar preferred (Not required)
- 1-5 years of experience in data analysis, construction estimating, or other relevant function
- Understanding of cost/performance drivers, construction processes, and market economics
- Self-driven and goal oriented
