The Pima County Elections Department will be hiring temporary employees for the following areas of the department:
Front Office
Basic duties involve:
Answering the phone
Data entry
Poll Worker scheduling
Preparing election day materials and supplies
Other duties as assigned
Early Ballot Processing
Basic duties involve:
Processing early ballots
Must be able to work as a bipartisan team to remove ballots from affidavit envelopes and prepare for tabulation
Must be able to sit for long periods of time and work overtime as needed
Warehouse
Basic duties involve:
Must receive, store, inventory, prepare, and distribute election day supplies
Lifting and moving boxes weighing 50 pounds or more
Operating county vehicles; loading and unloading supplies, and equipment
Daily use of warehouse equipment, including ladders and pallet jacks
Must have a flexible schedule and availability to work overtime as needed
Other duties as assigned
Technical
Basic duties involve:
Testing and preparing election day materials and equipment
Must operate a computer and other election equipment for the purpose of ballot tabulation
Must have basic computer skills
Must have a flexible schedule and availability to work overtime as needed
Other duties as assigned
Essential Functions:
As defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act, this classification may include any of the following tasks, knowledge, skills, and other characteristics. Processes early ballots for tabulation;
Prepares election supplies and voting machines for delivery to poll locations;
Makes minor mechanical and electrical repairs on voting equipment;
Loads and unloads election supplies and other materials;
Transports and receives election ballots, returns, and precinct supplies.
Minimum Qualifications:
Must be a registered voter with current registration in Pima County.

Selection Procedure :
Pima County Human Resources Department reserves the right to admit to the selection process only those candidates that meet the minimum/desired qualifications. All applications will be assessed based on an evaluation of the listed education and experience. Candidates meeting the minimum/desired qualifications may be further evaluated/scored against any advertised Preferred Qualifications. The hiring authority will interview and select the successful candidates from a referral list provided by Human Resources. Additional assessments/testing may be required as part of the selection process.
Supplemental Information:
Licenses and Certificates : Positions within the Elections Department require an Election Officer Certification & Training Program be completed and maintained as dictated by the Arizona Secretary of State’s office. Some positions require a valid Arizona Class D driver license at the time of application or appointment. Failure to obtain / maintain the required certification/licensure shall be grounds for termination. Valid driver license is required at time of application. Valid AZ driver license is required at time of appointment. The successful applicant will be subject to a 39-month DOT Motor Vehicle Record review to determine applicant’s suitability to operate county vehicles in accordance with Pima County administrative procedures. Failure to obtain and maintain the required licenses and certifications shall be grounds for termination. Any offer of employment resulting from this recruitment is contingent upon Fleet Services’ review and approval of the candidate’s driving record.
Special Notice : Some positions may require satisfactory completion of a personal background investigation by the court or law enforcement agencies, due to the need for access to County Attorney and Court facilities, records, and communication systems. The County requires pre-employment background checks. Successful candidates will receive a post-offer, pre-employment background screening to include verification of work history, education, and criminal conviction history. A prior criminal conviction will not automatically disqualify a candidate from employment with the County. Must be available to work on-call, as needed, and work overtime for extended periods of time.
Physical/Sensory Requirements : Constantly required to exchange accurate information. Constantly operates a computer and other office machinery. Constantly observes details at close range. Frequently remains in a stationary position.
Working Condition: Occasionally moves about inside an office. Occasionally moves office equipment weighing up to 25 pounds. Constantly works in an indoor environment.
