Responsibilities
- Spearhead the strategic vision for the museum, collaborating with the Board of Trustees to develop and implement long-term strategic plans that ensure the museum's relevance and sustainability.
- Craft and execute comprehensive fundraising strategies, including grant writing, donor cultivation, sponsorship programs, and membership development, to secure the resources necessary to achieve the museum's goals.
- Manage our newly developed marketing programs utilizing print and social media to increase museum admissions, memberships, and community engagement.
- Curate and oversee the development and implementation of innovative educational programs and offerings, with a strong emphasis on youth engagement, fostering a lifelong appreciation for history.
- Manage all aspects of museum operations, including staff supervision (1.5 full-time, seasonal, plus 6-12 volunteers), building and grounds maintenance, security, and budget management.
- Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, including community leaders, businesses, government entities, and other relevant organizations.
- Represent the museum at community events and actively participate in outreach initiatives, becoming a visible and engaged leader in the community.
- Attend museum activities and events, which may occur outside of normal working hours and offsite.
Qualifications
Demonstrated passion for Arizona history and/or museum experience.
Proven track record of successful fundraising for a museum or 501(c)(3) organization, including experience in:
- Creative and productive fundraising initiatives
- Developing enticing sponsorship opportunities
- Creating strong value-add membership offerings
- Building charismatic personal legacy appeal for donations
- Implementing data-based marketing programs to increase admissions and new memberships
- Developing paid museum exhibits and programming
- Securing grant funding
Experience in promoting and developing educational programs and offerings, particularly for young people.
Experience managing the operations of a small business, including staff supervision, building maintenance, grounds upkeep, and security protocols.
Experience recruiting, training, and managing volunteers.

Museum Hours of Operation: 11:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m., Tuesday - Saturday (closed to the public in July)
Director Hours: 40 hours/week, Monday - Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. with a one-hour lunch break.
Salary : $40,000 - $50,000
