JOB SUMMARY:
Implement and maintain quality assurance policies and procedures in the construction, renovation, and development of building, roads, and related construction projects. This is a Working/Journey position, which works under general supervision. Positions at this level are assigned a broad range of duties in the occupation. The employee uses judgment in selecting appropriate guidelines and in applying general policies and procedures. Significant deviations from established work processes require prior approval. The work produced and decisions made affect non-routine operations of the work unit. The employee applies knowledge to diversified subject matter, requiring some judgment in applying established procedures and guidelines.
Example of Duties
TYPICAL CLASSIFICATION ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
The duties listed below are examples of the work typically performed by employees in this class. An employee may not be assigned all duties listed and may be assigned duties which are not listed below.
- Communicate corrective action recommendations to engineering, construction, and other affected parties.
- Conducts quality assurance activities and processes to verify construction contractor quality control is adequate.
- Coordinates and interprets concrete, asphalt, aggregate base course and other construction materials test results.
- Exercises considerable judgment in the planning, conduct and interpretation of field inspections.
- Inspects roadways, drainage construction projects to ensure conformity with accepted construction standards and practices.
- Measures project performance according to applicable guidelines and standards.
- Operates a variety of field-testing equipment.
- Prepares and implements construction quality assurance plan.
- Reviews and assesses construction contractor work activities in relation to applicable local, state and Federal guidelines and requirements.
- Reviews construction design plans to identify potential conflicts.
- Verifies that construction sites and activities are in compliance with Environmental protection Agency (EPA) and Occupational Safety Hazards Act (OSHA) requirements.
- Drafts, develops and presents quality assurance and project status inspection reports.
- Prepares and presents plans and specifications review comments and findings.
- Performs other duties as assigned or required.
Minimum Requirements
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM WORK:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Two (2) years of experience in construction projects and inspections.
- Valid Driver’s License with an Arizona Driver’s License required within 30 days of hire.
- Or an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience may substitute for the minimum requirements.

The work is light and requires exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force to move objects. The work also requires the ability to balance, climb, crawl, crouch, finger, feel, grasp, handle, reach, perform repetitive motion, kneel, lift, pull, push, speak, hear, stand, stoop, walk, operate motor vehicles and/or heavy equipment, and demonstrate visual and mental acuity.
