What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior PCB Layout Engineer position at Pine Creek?
Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled PCB Board Layout Engineer with specialized expertise in designing printed circuit boards (PCBs) for high-power Battery Management Systems (BMS) integrated with signal processing applications. The ideal candidate will excel in creating efficient, reliable, and high-performance PCB layouts that balance the demands of high-current power delivery and sensitive analog/digital signal integrity. This role requires collaboration with electrical engineers, firmware developers, and manufacturing teams to deliver cutting-edge solutions for Green Energy solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and develop PCB layouts for high-power BMS circuits, ensuring optimal performance for power distribution, thermal management, and component placement.
- Incorporate signal processing elements, such as analog-to-digital converters (ADCs), filters, and microcontrollers, into PCB designs while maintaining signal integrity and minimizing noise.
- Perform schematic capture and collaborate with hardware engineers to translate requirements into manufacturable PCB layouts.
- Optimize designs for high-current paths, voltage isolation, and electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) in high-power environments.
- Conduct design rule checks (DRC), layer stack-up planning, and impedance control for high-speed signal traces.
- Select appropriate materials and components suited for high-power and signal processing applications, considering factors like thermal dissipation and dielectric properties.
- Create and maintain detailed documentation, including Gerber files, bill of materials (BOM), and assembly drawings.
- Support prototype builds by troubleshooting layout-related issues and iterating designs based on test results.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards (e.g., IPC, UL, IEC) and company-specific design guidelines.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate PCBs into larger systems and address manufacturability and reliability concerns.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 6 years of experience in PCB layout design, with a focus on high-power electronics and/or BMS applications.
- Proven expertise in designing PCBs for high-current systems (e.g., 50A ), including thermal management and power plane optimization.
- Strong understanding of signal processing circuit design, including noise reduction techniques and mixed-signal layouts.
- Proficiency with PCB design tools such as Altium Designer, Cadence Allegro, or KiCAD.
- Familiarity with BMS-specific requirements, such as cell balancing, current sensing, and fault protection circuitry.
- Experience with EMI/EMC mitigation strategies and high-speed signal routing.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes, DFM (Design for Manufacturability), and DFT (Design for Testability) principles.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate technical concepts clearly.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with high-power BMS for, energy storage, or renewable energy systems.
- Familiarity with embedded systems and firmware integration on PCBs.
- Understanding of safety standards for high-voltage systems (e.g., ISO 26262, IEC 61508).
- Prior work with multilayer PCBs (6 layers) in high-density designs.
Why Join Us?
- Join a cutting-edge team advancing Green Energy solutions through innovative technology.
- Competitive salary and benefits package
- Opportunities for professional growth and contributions to cutting-edge projects.
- Work in an environment that values creativity, technical excellence, and environmental impact.
