Overall department responsibilities include management of employees, production efficiency, maintenance, quality, safety and cost while ensuring compliance with all standards, policies and regulations. Dedication to continuous process improvement is required.
Requirements : Expectations
Maintains operations and production efforts by initiating, coordinating and maximizing the utilization of equipment and human resources on a daily basis.
Maintains operations in compliance with MSHA, OSHA, and EPA Standards.
Achieves financial objectives by analyzing variances and initiating corrective actions.
Promotes a safe work environment and ensures safety compliance.
Promotes teamwork by coordinating department objectives with overall plant objectives.
Helps and oversees training of new employees in operations and safety.
Maintains department equipment good operational condition and recommends replacement when necessary.
Manage department staff by coaching, counseling and disciplining consistently.
Motivate department staff by communicating, planning, monitoring, and appraising job results.
Prepare and update production, efficiency and other management reports.
Ensure staff development by targeted training to achieve company and individual goals.
Enforce the practice of LEAN manufacturing principles.
Qualifications
Associates degree in Manufacturing Technology
2 years production experience in a supervisory role
excellent communication skills
strong mechanical aptitude
knowledge of manufacturing processes, equipment and technology
understanding of safety requirements for employees and equipment
demonstrated project management skills
knowledge of LEAN Manufacturing principles and their application
experience in a ceramics or brick production environment a plus
Heavy industry / aggregate mining with experience in MSHA regulations and compliance
Heavy equipment : loader, skid steer, etc., operation and maintenance
