- Enter, update, and maintain accurate personnel data in appropriate personnel database(s) in a timely manner; serve as district-wide super-user for HRIS/FIS system;
- Distribute personnel data and/or personnel action forms to appropriate Business Office, Human Resources and/or building personnel; contribute to the design, optimization, and implementation of related workflow processes;
- Prepare personnel-related reports on both a scheduled and ad hoc basis, including, but not limited to, state-mandated personnel reports, district-wide vacancy reports, and relevant employee status reports;
- Maintain, prepare, and distribute annual seniority lists in accordance with current collective bargaining agreements;
- Prepare, distribute, collect, review, and track new employee offer letters and other requisite documentation as part of the onboarding process (e.g. transcripts, certifications/licenses, clearances, etc.);
- Generate reports reflecting information gained through employee exit interviews
- Manage benefits enrollment and administration for new and existing employees; this includes, but is not limited to, managing all changes in the benefits system for employees, reconciling & paying invoices for district benefits, maintaining proof of dependents, and assisting with open enrollment & processing of other benefits changes;
- Coordinate the review and approval or denial of requests for FMLA and other leaves of absence; prepare and distribute notifications and other required documentation and information to eligible and non-eligible employees; this includes, but is not limited to, verifying employee eligibility for various leave options, tracking and monitoring of employee leaves of absence and return-to-work status, and updating employee status in appropriate personnel databases;
- Assist in posting, maintaining, and updating HR information on employee intranet and district website;
- Develop and maintain system for tracking and reporting on employee certifications and other relevant qualifications for professional and paraprofessional staff;
- Assist employees and prospective employees with questions regarding professional certifications and refer to the Pennsylvania Department of Education as appropriate;
- Prepare and distribute notice letters to professional employees whose professional certification(s) must be converted from Level I to Level II;
- Periodically review and ensure requisite legal/labor law notices are posted throughout district;
- Provide support and serve as district backup for payroll function, as necessary;
- Assist with the employee selection/hiring process for certain positions, including posting/advertising of vacant positions, background/reference checks and employment verifications, as necessary;
- Annually update and distribute revisions to employee handbooks; obtain, track and log employee acknowledgments in personnel files;
- Assist with managing employee attendance and absence reporting systems, including tracking and maintaining attendance and related sick, vacation, and personal day balances;
- Assist with New Hire Orientation and coordination and facilitation of faculty and staff training and professional development activities;
- Assist Director of Human Resources in coordination of faculty and staff training and professional development activities;
- Maintain productive and respectful working relationships with other administrative office and district staff members;
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Human Resources or his/her designee.

SUMMARY
The Human Resources Specialist (HR Specialist) is responsible for managing and implementing the day-to-day operations of the District’s human resources office under the direction of the Director of Human Resources. This position is responsible for the administration and maintenance of all personnel information and related databases, as well as other administrative operational systems. The HR Specialist is also responsible for providing customer service-oriented support to district employees for various HR matters, managing employee benefits administration, and the preparation and quality- assurance of various personnel reports.

COMPUTER SKILLS
Demonstrate proficiency with personal computers and Google suite (such as Docs, Sheets, Forms, and Slides) and/or MS Office programs (such as Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint) in a Windows environment. Experienced with HRIS and/or similar database systems.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
