Position Overview:
Pine Tree High School anticipates an opening for a High School Engineering Teacher for the 2025-2026 school year. This individual will join our Career and Technical Education (CTE) team to teach courses within the PTHS Engineering Program of Study, helping students develop critical thinking, problem-solving, and technical skills in engineering and design. The ideal candidate will bring industry experience or a strong educational background in engineering, preparing students for post-secondary pathways and careers in STEM fields.
Scope of Responsibilities:
- Teach high school engineering courses aligned with the Texas Education Agency’s Engineering Foundations Program of Study, covering topics such as design, prototyping and engineering principles.
- Develop engaging, hands-on learning experiences using engineering software, computer-aided design (CAD), and project-based learning strategies.
- Guide students in applying mathematical and scientific concepts to real-world engineering challenges.
- Integrate industry standards, safety protocols, and emerging technologies into classroom instruction.
- Foster student innovation through competitions, capstone projects, and collaborative problem-solving experiences.
- Maintain and oversee the engineering program's equipment, supplies, and resources.
- Build relationships with local industry partners, colleges, and universities to expand student learning opportunities.
- Support and advise students in STEM-related extracurricular activities, such as Technology Student Association or SkillsUSA.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to students exploring engineering careers and post-secondary pathways.
- Maintain an "all in" attitude—when everyone helps a little, the biggest challenges can be overcome!
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related STEM field (preferred).
- Industry experience in an engineering or technical field (preferred).
- Highly desired, but not required: Texas Educator Certification in Math/Physical Science/Engineering 6-12 or 8-12, Technology Education 6-12.
Skills & Requirements:
- Experience with engineering design software (such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or Inventor) is a plus.
- Strong communication and instructional skills, with a passion for mentoring students.
- Ability to collaborate with CTE staff, industry professionals, and post-secondary institutions.

The Engineering Program at Pine Tree High School is designed to prepare students for college and career pathways in engineering, manufacturing, and technology-related fields.
- Learning Space: Classes are held in an oversized classroom with student computer stations, work benches, and tables for group work. The room includes three dedicated storage rooms for materials, tools, and project components.
- Hands-On Experience: Students gain real-world engineering skills through design challenges, prototyping, and problem-solving activities.
