WHAT You'll do as a School Based Therapist:
- Under the supervision of the Director of School-Based Behavioral Health Services, the incumbent of this position will provide trauma-informed behavioral health services in a designated community school to students identified by the school as needing Tier 2 and Tier 3 interventions.
- This position works in one or more schools and may change locations as program contracts are updated.
- Services include individual therapy, small group sessions and family therapy with families of students exposed to trauma. Anticipated minimum student caseload is 40-60 students.
- The incumbent will be expected to provide monthly or quarterly professional development offerings on trauma informed practices for school staff (such as at monthly faculty meetings or staff in service days).
- Works cooperatively with school administration, nursing and guidance staff to develop positive relationships, foster collaboration, and ensure a smooth referral process.
- Provide various therapy models including Trauma Focused CBT, Motivational Interviewing, Person Centered Therapy and others.
- Professional development is supported and encouraged through trainings, conferences, workshops and related educational programs.
- Maintains student information in the agency electronic health record.
Qualifications:
- Bilingual skills (English/Spanish) strongly preferred.
- Requires a master’s degree or higher in psychology, clinical social work, counseling or a related discipline from an accredited college or university.
- Experience providing trauma-informed psychotherapy to children and/or adolescents.
- Must be eligible for licensure as an LCSW, LPC or LMFT.
- Must also practice sensitivity to the diversity and culture of the defined-service population.
