Mental Health Counselor - School Based (Part-Time)

WHAT You'll do as a School Based Therapist:

• Under the supervision of the Director of School-Based Behavioral Health Services, the incumbent of this position will provide trauma-informed behavioral health services in a designated community school to students identified by the school as needing Tier 2 and Tier 3 interventions.
• This position works in one or more schools and may change locations as program contracts are updated.
• Services include individual therapy, small group sessions and family therapy with families of students exposed to trauma.
• The incumbent may be asked to provide professional development offerings on trauma informed practices or other therapeutic strategies and interventions.
• Works cooperatively with school administration, guidance, teachers and nursing staff to develop positive relationships, foster collaboration, and ensure a smooth referral process.
• Provide various therapy models including Trauma Focused CBT, Motivational Interviewing, Person Centered Therapy and others.
• Professional development is supported and encouraged through trainings, conferences, workshops and related educational programs.
• Maintains student information in the agency electronic health record.

Qualifications:

• Bilingual skills (English/Spanish) strongly preferred.
• Requires a master’s degree or higher in psychology, clinical social work, counseling or a related discipline from an accredited college or university.
• Experience providing trauma-informed psychotherapy to children and/or adolescents.
• Must be eligible for licensure as an LCSW, LPC or LMFT.
• Must also practice sensitivity to the diversity and culture of the defined-service population.
