WHAT You'll do as a School Based Therapist:
- Under the supervision of the Director of School-Based Behavioral Health Services, the incumbent of this position will provide trauma-informed behavioral health services in a designated community school to students identified by the school as needing Tier 2 and Tier 3 interventions.
- This position works in one or more schools and may change locations as program contracts are updated.
- Services include individual therapy, small group sessions and family therapy with families of students exposed to trauma.
- The incumbent may be asked to provide professional development offerings on trauma informed practices or other therapeutic strategies and interventions.
- Works cooperatively with school administration, guidance, teachers and nursing staff to develop positive relationships, foster collaboration, and ensure a smooth referral process.
- Provide various therapy models including Trauma Focused CBT, Motivational Interviewing, Person Centered Therapy and others.
- Professional development is supported and encouraged through trainings, conferences, workshops and related educational programs.
- Maintains student information in the agency electronic health record.
Qualifications:
- Bilingual skills (English/Spanish) strongly preferred.
- Requires a master’s degree or higher in psychology, clinical social work, counseling or a related discipline from an accredited college or university.
- Experience providing trauma-informed psychotherapy to children and/or adolescents.
- Must be eligible for licensure as an LCSW, LPC or LMFT.
- Must also practice sensitivity to the diversity and culture of the defined-service population.
