SUPERINTENDENT POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Reporting to the Director of Field Operations, the Superintendent position provides field project team leadership and has overall and bottom line responsibility for field aspects of the project. Is also actively involved in prospective project lead generation, and proposal preparation and presentation.
SUPERINTENDENT RESPONSIBILITIES:
Safety and Risk - Superintendent
- Proactively places a high priority on safety at all times and asserts that priority whenever and wherever needed
- Ensures all personnel comply with project procedures, safety programs, work rules, etc.
- Documents all violations and recommends/implements corrective actions
- Reads and is familiar with all construction and contract documents, and changes, including:
- Owner contract agreement and general conditions; subcontracts and material contracts
- Plans, project manual, all specifications, and geotechnical reports
- This role has been designated a safety sensitive position. Employees working in this role will be subject to safety-sensitive injury prevention programs, including more rigorous and frequent substance testing.
Defect Prevention and Quality Control - Superintendent
- Performs constructability review(s) during preconstruction
- Ensures that timely productive preparatory meetings occur and are documented for all trades and subcontractors
- Ensures that appropriate defect prevention, quality control, and quality assurance plans and procedures are in place for the proper execution of the work
- Has direct responsibility for conformance with the contract documents for complete project
- Ensures timely scheduling of testing and inspections required to maintain efficient work flows
- Supports warranty efforts as required on completed projects
Leadership and Supervision - Superintendent
- Provides leadership and oversees total construction effort to ensure project is constructed in accordance with design, budget and schedule
- Supervises and coordinates all subcontractors to ensure compliance with their subcontracts
- Leads jobsite subcontractor and project coordination meetings
- Provides direct management and oversight, performance evaluation and feedback, training, and career development support of direct reports including Field Engineers, and Field and Assistant Superintendents
- Develops professional relationships with project owner, design professionals, and trade partners
- Promotes among Pinkard’s project team, constructive working relationships and a firm-but-fair approach with the project owner, design professionals, and trade partners
Planning, Scheduling, and Procurement - Superintendent
- Ensures completion of the project on schedule
- Provides project approach and logistics input during preconstruction as needed
- Provides detailed construction schedule development during preconstruction
- Plans, develops, and executes the construction schedule
- Evaluates all changes for their impact on the project schedule and estimated costs
Construction and Project Administration - Superintendent
- Responsible for project mobilization, site organization and construction methodology
- Ensures appropriate creation and execution of storm water management plans
- Ensures timely completion of punch list
- Ensures proper completion of all field administration including daily reports, quantity reporting and tracking, time sheets, accounting, field purchase records, progress photographs, concrete logs, and subcontractor and coordination meeting minutes
- Assists with development of subcontract scopes, participates in subcontractor buyout, and responsible for enforcement of work scopes in the field
- Ensures that jobsite as-built documentation is maintained throughout the project
Cost Control - Superintendent
- Responsible for all field cost activities including field estimating, productivity and manpower analysis, committed costs, budget projections, and equipment strategy and management
SUPERINTENDENT REQUIREMENTS:
6-8 years of experience in commercial construction, with progression demonstrating increasingly more responsibility, complexity, and scope
Knows and can perform all duties of Assistant Superintendent with 3-6 years as an Assistant Superintendent on large or complex jobs, or as a Superintendent on smaller or less complex jobs.
OSHA 30 hour certified at least every 3 years
- Demonstrated experience in Recreation Centers, Education, and Municipal Commercial Construction projects is required.
- Applicants being considered for hire must pass a drug test before beginning work or receiving an offer of employment.
SUPERINTENDENT COMPENSATION:
In accordance with the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act the salary range for this position will be $105,000 to $140,000 Profit Sharing Performance-based Incentive Bonus Company Vehicle. Actual base pay within this range will be determined by several components including, but not limited to, relevant experience, internal equity, skills, qualifications, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
