Profile of the 504 Facilitator
The Pinkerton Academy 504 Facilitator's most important role is to assist the 504 Coordinator in ensuring Pinkerton Academy’s compliance with Section 504 policies and procedural regulations regarding qualifying students. The 504 Facilitator will work with the Coordinator to offer guidance and support to members of the school counseling department and Pinkerton community in areas of 504 implementation, applying accommodations, and understanding our role in the Americans with Disabilities Act.
The 504 Facilitator is a key member of the 504 Team and Student Support Center, responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the Student Support Center while supporting 504 meetings and 8th-grade transition. The 504 Facilitator will play a vital role in ensuring the success of students with 504 plans by providing support in academics, executive functioning, and future planning. In addition, the 504 Facilitator will serve as the middle school liaison for a variety of programs and initiatives including but not limited to the coordinating and organizing of the 8th grade transition meetings for all incoming students.

Essential Roles of the 504 Facilitator
Facilitation
- Works closely with 504 Coordinator and School Counselors to ensure identification of eligible students and implementation of student plans
- Coordinates and Facilitates 504 meetings as appropriate
- Provides education on ADA and 504 to teachers and department groups in collaboration with the coordinator
- Prepares and/or updates 504 plans as necessary
- Maintains data and gathers statistical information and reports the same when requested by the 504 Coordinator
- Provides the 504 Coordinator with assistance in all aspects of 504 referral processing as requested
- In the absence of the 504 Coordinator, attends special education meetings of potential students being referred to 504 or being referred to special education from 504
- Arranges for yearly review and renewal of each student’s 504 plan
- Review each student's cumulative folders, whether recently eligible or a move-in.
- Facilitates 504 referral or progress meetings as requested by the 504 Coordinator
- Troubleshoots student, parent, faculty, and administrative concerns as they relate to 504 accommodations/related services.
- Oversees activities that help facilitate student transitions from one educational experience to another
- Serves as Middle School Liaison for students with a 504 Plan for the transition process- managing, organizing, and facilitating the 8th-grade transition meetings.
