Payroll Specialist – Pinnacle Group
Permanent Direct Hire
Dallas, TX (onsite once a month)
$60,000 - $65,000 bonus
Basic Function of Position
The Payroll Specialist will ensure accurate processing and recording of US payroll, provide timely and accurate financial information, and participate in daily data entry Payroll processing. The specialist will work as part of a team to complete all aspects of payroll activities and will provide assistance to both internal and external employees when necessary.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
- Process Payroll - process employee data and payroll in 3rd party system, reviewing and importing hours from time and attendance system, entering tax and direct deposit information, administering regulatory requirements.
- Accounting - reconcile general ledger with regard to payroll transactions; book payroll journal entries into accounting system that include 401k, direct deposit returns, accruals
- Customer Service –deliver an excellent experience to employee inquiries regarding payroll issues or concerns both externally and internally
- Cross Functional Team Collaboration - work jointly with the HR, Benefits, Onboarding, and Timesheets teams to ensure accuracy with premiums, sick pay, new hire paperwork, time entry, and resolve any issues that may arise
- Payroll Laws, Compliance, and Audits – understand proper taxation of employee paychecks; resolve any tax issues that may come from the IRS/States/Locality. Keep up to date with relevant legislation & regulations. Ensure compliance with company policies, contractual requirements, and relevant legal and regulatory requirements, including process controls and reporting. Complete audits such as overpayment tracking, high hours, terminations, overtime, minimum salary, and multiple rates.
- Projects – carry out any special projects that may arise; ad hoc analyses, and other duties as directed
Qualifications
- Experience processing high volume multi-state payroll preferred
- Knowledge of Federal, State and Local US payroll laws
- Workday and Bullhorn experience preferred
- Strong Microsoft Office proficiency, especially in Excel

Working Conditions
- Fast-paced; deadline driven environment – can be long hours on payroll when needed – general expectation is 40 hrs per week
