Established in 2004, our client is an alternative asset management firm focused on small and lower middle market buyout and growth investing throughout North America. Our client partners with specialized managers and independent sponsors to construct portfolios they believe can significantly outperform broader markets. The firm manages $10b, and their private markets team specifically manages $3b.
Opportunity:
Our is seeking an Associate to join their Private Markets focused team. This individual will have the responsibility of assisting in the overall investment process including screening, executing new investments and monitoring existing investments. The investment professional will support the firm’s investment teams analyzing, monitoring, and researching investment opportunities across our client’s investment strategies. This individual will gain exposure across primary investments, co-investments, and secondary investments.
Responsibilities:
They are seeking an Associate with strong analytical skills and a self-starter mindset. The Associate will, among other things:
- Conducting due diligence on prospective investment opportunities, including industry specific research and financial analysis
- Monitoring existing investments
- Preparing investment memos, financial projections, and valuations
- Maintaining investment and marketing databases
- Sourcing investment opportunities and establishing relationships with fund managers, placement agents and other third parties to drive deal flow
- Performing portfolio analytics
- Preparing quarterly and annual investment reporting documents
- Updating marketing materials and assisting with investor relations
Qualifications:
- 1-4 years of experience (investment banking, Management consulting, investment management, business valuation)
- Excellent academic credentials; candidates from a top-tier school will be favorably considered
- Strong proficiency with Excel, PowerPoint and Microsoft Word
- Strong understanding of accounting and finance
- Superior work ethic and communication capabilities
- Ability to work as a member of a small team handling a wide range of responsibilities
- High level of professionalism, maturity and attention to detail
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including the desire and ability to interact with management teams
- Ties to or desire to be in Boston
