Director of Finance

Position Overview

The Director of Finance will oversee all financial activities for a fast-paced food manufacturing company. This individual will serve as a key strategic partner to the executive team, ensuring financial health, compliance, and sustainability while driving business growth and operational efficiency. The role will require a deep understanding of financial management in a manufacturing environment, with a focus on cost optimization, risk management, and long-term financial planning.

Key Responsibilities of the Director of Finance

Strategic Leadership

  • Develop and execute financial strategies aligned with the companys business goals.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to provide financial insights and recommendations.
  • Lead budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning processes.

Financial Operations

  • Oversee accounting, financial reporting, and compliance functions.
  • Manage the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Ensure adherence to all regulatory requirements, including GAAP and tax compliance.

    • Cost Management

  • Analyze and optimize product costing, pricing strategies, and profit margins.
  • Monitor and control manufacturing costs, waste, and efficiency metrics.
  • Develop and implement cost-saving initiatives without compromising quality.

    • Risk Management

  • Identify and mitigate financial and operational risks.
  • Maintain appropriate levels of insurance and ensure internal controls are effective.
  • Oversee cash flow management to ensure liquidity and financial stability.

    • Team Leadership

  • Manage, mentor, and develop a high-performing finance team.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, transparency, and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including operations and sales, to drive profitability.

    • Qualifications for the Director of Finance

    Education and Experience

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 810 years of progressive financial leadership experience, with at least 35 years in manufacturing (preferably in food manufacturing).

    • Skills and Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of cost accounting and manufacturing processes.
  • Proficiency in financial software systems and advanced Excel skills.
  • Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
