Millwork Estimator
Overview:
We are looking for a precise and driven Millwork Estimator to join our growing team, supporting our project planning process through accurate, competitive estimates. The role combines analytical skills and expertise in custom millwork fabrication. Ideal candidates have experience with millwork or cabinetry estimation, can interpret architectural blueprints, and enjoy working collaboratively across departments for efficient project planning.
Key Responsibilities:
Estimation and Planning:
1. Review and analyze architectural drawings to determine and quantify millwork elements.
2. Develop detailed cost estimates, including materials, labor, and overhead.
3. Perform material takeoffs for casework, trim, cabinetry, and specialty millwork projects.
4. Adjust estimates based on client specifications and budget considerations.
Project Coordination:
5. Collaborate with project managers, designers, and suppliers to gather all necessary details for accurate estimates.
6. Attend pre-construction meetings to confirm project scopes and identify potential cost-saving options.
7. Work with the purchasing team to obtain current material costs and availability.
Technical Expertise:
8. Use knowledge of fabrication techniques and materials to create realistic, competitive estimates.
9. Select materials in partnership with project teams to ensure high quality and cost-effectiveness.
Software and Systems Management:
10. Utilize estimating software, spreadsheets, and industry-specific tools to streamline estimation workflows.
11. Maintain up-to-date pricing databases and historical data for use in future projects.
Timeline and Quality Control:
12. Follow established timelines for submitting estimates and project proposals.
13. Regularly review estimates to ensure accuracy and alignment with client expectations and industry standards.
Required Skills:
1. Proficiency in Bluebeam, Microsoft Excel, and estimating software (experience with Procore or similar is a plus).
2. Strong analytical skills and attention to detail when reviewing drawings and preparing estimates.
3. Effective communication skills for team and client interactions.
4. Solid understanding of custom millwork materials, finishes, and fabrication processes.
5. Familiarity with industry-standard measurement systems.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in construction management, architectural technology, or a related field.
- 2 years of experience in estimating for millwork, cabinetry, or similar industries.
- Certification in blueprint reading or cost estimation.
