Pioneer Manufacturing Company, Inc. is looking for a highly motivated, experienced candidate to serve in the Accounting department at its manufacturing plant located on the West Side of Cleveland. The specialist will perform daily accounting tasks including accounts receivable and accounts payable transactions as well as aiding in monthly reconciliations and preparation of various accounting statements and financial reports.
Responsibilities
- Day to day accounting processes including invoicing, recording and reporting cash receipts
- Receive, record and deposit cash, checks, and credits
- Review accounts for discrepancies and reconcile differences
- Assist in sending customer invoices upon request
- Update customer accounts with accuracy
- Record vendor invoices
- Prepare and process weekly vendor payments
- Maintain vendor database, including updating information in accounting system and obtaining W-9 forms
- Assist with audit preparation
- Process Accounts Payable
- Process credit card payments and statements
- Assist with special projects
- Other duties as assigned
SUPPORTIVE FUNCTIONS
In addition to performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions, with the percentage of time performing each function to be determined by the supervisor and based upon the particular requirements of the company.
- Assist office personnel with general accounting questions in and efficient and professional manner
- Maintain security of documents
- Special accounting projects, as assigned
OTHER DUTIES
- Assimilate into Pioneer’s culture through understanding, supporting and participating in all elements of its service standards
- Regular attendance in conformance with standards, which may be established by Pioneer from time to time
SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY
The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Must possess knowledge of economic and accounting principles and practices, the financial markets, and reporting of financial data.
- Must comply with federal, state and company policies, procedures and regulations
- Must possess computer skills including use of keyboard, and computer programs such as Word and Excel
- Must possess basic English language communication in order to communicate with co-workers, vendors and customers and to fully comprehend job assignments
- Must be able to communicate effectively in writing
- Must have working knowledge of 10-key adding machine; fax machines, copiers, printers, shredders and mail machines.
- Must possess knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as, managing files and records, designing forms and other office procedures and terminology.
- Must be detail-oriented and able to multi-task projects
- Must have knowledge of the principles and processes for providing high level customer service
- Must have good social skills and able to work as a team member or independently
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor or Associate Degree in Accounting or Finance from an accredited college or university or work experience equivalent.
- At least two (2) years of experience with a focus in accounting responsibilities within a professional environment
