As the leader of the facility, the Nursing Home Administrator (NHA) is expected to assure that the facility operates in compliance with all state and federal regulations at all times while providing person-centered care.

Responsibilities

Implements policies, rules, and procedures for the facility as established by the Governing Body.

Monitors facility processes, practices, physical plant condition, and resource availability to assure that the facility is in a state of continuous compliance.

Establish and maintain facility committees to implement policies, assure compliance with regulations, and provide safe and high quality care to the facility’s residents.

Develop and implement the facility QAPI plan focusing on required reporting metrics, and high risk / high volume / problem prone processes.

Complete the facility assessment, review annually, revise when dictated based on changes in resident composition / needs, and submit to the governing body annually and whenever revised.

Recruit and retain nursing home staff members to assure that adequate staff is available to provide resident care, to maintain the facility in good repair, and to perform the administrative functions necessary to support the facility.

Assure that facility staff members receive training necessary to perform their duties in a safe, effective and compliant manner.

Provides input to the operating budget based on the facility assessment, and maintains compliance with the established budget.

Recommends and prioritizes capital improvements, including major equipment and renovations

Maintains the facility census at or above budget targets by promoting the facility with referral sources and prospective residents / families, and participating in ACOs and preferred provider networks.

Communicates with residents and families on a regular basis to assure that needs and expectations are being met or exceeded.

Addresses concerns or grievances raised by residents or family members in a timely manner, assesses issues with potential for recurrence or impact on other residents and refers these issues for QAPI.

Works with clinical staff to create a plan of care for each resident and to oversee residents' progress and condition.

Oversees the billing of residents for services rendered and the collection of private billings.

Deciding when to send residents to other health care facilities, such as hospitals and rehabilitation centers.

Making regular reports to the nursing home's governing body including quality metrics, survey activity, budget compliance

Minimum Qualifications :

Must hold a current State of Michigan NHA License

Bachelor’s Degree in related fields preferred

Two years Nursing Home Administrator experience preferred

The Director of Nursing is responsible for assuring compliance with federal, state and local standards, guidelines and regulations that are required and directed to ensure the highest quality of care for the residents / patients. The Director of Nursing is a clinical expert in care of the elderly as well as care required to optimize post-acute care rehabilitation and recovery.

Core Responsibilities :

Assures that care is provided consistent with standards of care, manages the environment to maintain resident / patient safety, and supervises the resident / patient activity performance by nursing personnel.

Maintains staff accountability for clinical and customer service standards at all times. Addresses non-compliance with policy, procedure, and standards of practice and behavior with staff in a respectful and professional manner when non-compliance is observed.

Make daily rounds on the unit to ensure resident care needs and environmental standards are met; this includes monitoring of the dining room during meal times.

Participates in the development and implementation of new policies and procedures based on identified needs.

Oversees care to promote the highest level of physical, mental and psychosocial functioning possible.

Drives the Quality Assurance Process, including completing routine quality audits, coaching staff, developing action plans, report preparation, and participating in the facility Quality Assurance Meeting.

Make frequent rounds to ensure nursing personnel are performing their work assignments in accordance with acceptable nursing standards.

Ensures Residents / Patient care rooms and treatment areas are maintained in a clean and sanitary manner.

Conducts staff meetings and continuing education in-service programs.

Participates in the Interdisciplinary Plan of Care and Care Conferences.

Monitors at-risk residents and processes including wounds, falls, infection control and uses QAPI processes to improve processes and reduce risk.

Assure adequate staffing; determine staffing levels needed for census, hire, onboard, and orient staff to support staffing levels.

Ensure the facility is well stocked with supplies, including medications and equipment.

Compile information for and prepare infection surveillance reports, Labs, TB test to maintain compliance within the facility.

Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications :

Must hold a current State of Michigan RN License

Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing preferred, Master’s Degree in Nursing highly desirable.

Two years leadership / charge / supervisory experience in a SNF / LTC setting required; three to five years preferred

Must be able to read, write and understand the English language

Computer literacy skills including Word and basic mouse and keyboard operations. Electronic clinical documentation experience preferred.
