Lila Science is considering candidates seeking hands-on experience in cutting-edge projects across our Physical Science-focused engineering, experimental, and computation teams. As an intern, you will collaborate with industry experts, contributing to groundbreaking advancements, and playing a pivotal role in shaping the future of materials science.
All internship projects will involve working across engineering, experiment, and computation teams. The following projects are categorized by their primary domain. Please indicate in your cover letter your interest in a specific domain and/or a specific project.

Engineering
- Automating Synthesis: Developing and deploying an automated materials synthesis platform. Activities include development of schematics, electronics, software, workflows, and data management.
- Robotic Instrument Design: Developing CAD models and building prototypes for instruments that automate materials science workflows.
- Catalysis: Synthesizing never-before-made materials and evaluating them as catalysts. Activities include development of testing protocols operating custom automated instruments, processing and visualizing the data, and combining human and machine intelligence to interpret data.
- Mechanical Testing: Developing and deploying high-throughput mechanical testing for materials discovery, data validation, and property evaluation.
- Machine Learning for Materials Characterization: Adapting and deploying machine learning models for automatic interpretation of materials characterization data streams. Activities include signal processing, uncertainty quantification, and embedding physics in ML models.
