Technical Writer

POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Pioneering Evolution is seeking a highly motivated Technical Writer/Editor to join our dynamic team. This individual will take on a leadership role in the development and production of technical documents, including Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals (IETMs), following the S1000D standard. The Technical Writer/Editor will be responsible for writing, updating, and managing XML-based documentation and browser-based training products. This position requires U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain a Department of Defense (DoD) Secret Clearance. This is an onsite position based in Panama City, Florida. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Develop and manage technical documentation for IETMs using the S1000D standard, including definition and implementation of XML structure, tags, and coding.

• Create and update operational and maintenance procedures for Navy hardware and software systems.

• Review documentation for accuracy, consistency, and quality through established QA processes.

• Collaborate with and train writers and subject matter experts (SMEs) to produce high-quality user guides, maintenance instructions, and technical manuals.

• Manage and maintain XML-based content in the Common Source Data Base (CSDB).

• Support multiple technical data development projects simultaneously to meet delivery schedules.

• Interpret complex technical data from engineering drawings, OEM manuals, BOMs, and SME interviews.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

• Bachelor’s degree or a minimum of three (3) years of experience developing and producing IETMs.

• At least two (2) years of hands-on experience with XML authoring toolsets.

• Proficiency in browser-based languages including XML and HTML.

• Experience using PTC Arbortext Editor and PTC Isodraw.

• Ability to understand and interpret a wide range of technical materials, including operational/maintenance manuals and procedures.

• Excellent written communication, planning, and organizational skills.

• U.S. Citizenship.

• Must possess or be able to obtain a Department of Defense (DoD) Secret Clearance.

DESIRED EXPERIENCE:

• Familiarity with the S1000D specification and structured technical documentation.

• Experience in a collaborative environment working with engineering and training teams.

• Background in defense or military systems documentation.

• Prior involvement in IETM content lifecycle management and delivery.
