Position Overview
The Bindery Specialist plays a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of the print shop's production workflow. This role focuses on bindery / finishing tasks, requiring exceptional attention to detail, a commitment to high-quality output, and efficient time management. The Specialist supports customer service and sales teams while collaborating across departments to meet deadlines and exceed customer expectations.
Key Responsibilities
1. Bindery and Finishing
Operate bindery and finishing equipment, including cutting, folding, binding, laminating, and other post-production tasks.
Ensure all finished products meet quality standards and are prepared for delivery.
Perform regular maintenance and calibration of bindery equipment.
Delivery of final product to customer.
Helping with installs from our signage department.
2. Workflow Support
Collaborate with the production team to prioritize jobs and meet deadlines.
Work closely with customer service and sales teams to address production needs and resolve issues.
Provide cross-departmental support to ensure seamless job progression through the production process.
3. Quality Assurance
Conduct quality checks at every stage of production to ensure products meet or exceed client expectations.
Identify and address defects or issues promptly to minimize rework and waste.
4. Process Improvement
Identify opportunities to improve production and bindery workflows, reducing turnaround times and increasing efficiency.
5. Customer Interaction (As Needed)
Occasionally assist with customer inquiries and provide recommendations on production capabilities and finishing options.
Collaborate with the sales team to suggest cost-effective production solutions that align with client needs.
Qualifications and Skills
Experience
Minimum 2 years of experience in bindery operations.
Familiarity with finishing equipment.
Ability to use hand tools.
Knowledge
Strong understanding of digital printing processes and bindery techniques.
Knowledge of paper types, finishing options, and production best practices.
Skills
Exceptional attention to detail and quality assurance.
Strong organizational and time-management skills.
Basic mechanical aptitude for troubleshooting equipment issues.
