Position Overview
Actively engaged for an experienced EHS Specialist for a battery energy storage project. The EHS Specialist will be responsible for site safety by ensuring compliance with all relevant environmental, health, and safety (EHS) regulations, promoting a safe and healthy work environment, and managing risk across site operations. This role is critical in minimizing workplace incidents, reducing environmental impact, and ensuring legal compliance. This position reports to the EHS Manager.
Primary Responsibilities
- Ensure the organization complies with all federal, state, and local EHS regulations and standards.
- Conduct regular audits to verify compliance and recommend improvements.
- Perform risk assessments to identify potential hazards and implement control measures.
- Develop and maintain risk management plans and safety protocols.
- Design and deliver project site specific orientation training programs for all project staff.
- Promote a culture of safety and environmental responsibility throughout the organization.
- Investigate incidents, accidents, and near-misses to determine causes and prevent recurrence.
- Document findings and implement corrective actions.
- Develop and update emergency response plans.
- Conduct drills and ensure readiness for various emergency scenarios.
- Oversee waste management, pollution prevention, and sustainability initiatives.
- Ensure proper handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials.
- Maintain accurate records of all EHS activities, incidents, and compliance efforts.
- Prepare reports for management, regulatory bodies, and stakeholders.
- Conduct routine safety audits and document according to company standards
- Lead initiatives to improve EHS performance, including implementing new technologies or practices.
Key Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
- Strong understanding of EHS regulations and standards.
- Proficient in risk assessment methodologies and safety management systems.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- LOTO experience in electrical industry
- Must have reliable transportation to and from project site
Education and Experience Required:
- Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of experience in EHS in the electrical industry
- OSHA 30 and NFPA 70e Certifications
- CPR/First Aid certified
Desired:
- OSHA Outreach Trainer, NEBOSH or similar certifications
- CHST, CSP, CIH and/or CHMM certifications
Salary : $40 - $45
