What are the responsibilities and job description for the Research Trial Manager position at Pipestone (Emp Serv LLC)?
OBJECTIVE:
Oversee daily activities at Research Barn 1, Research Barn 4, and Research Barn 6 maintaining the facilities at a high level.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (other duties as assigned)
Education:
Animal science degree preferred but not required
Experience:
Previous experience with wean to finish farm operations and data entry preferred but not required.
Work Environment:
Agricultural swine environment in rural area
Noise levels that require hearing protection in some areas
Modern wean-to-finish facilities
Physical Requirements:
Standing, walking and ability to be on feet 8 to 10 hours per day
Frequent bending, reaching, squatting and kneeling
Frequent use of one or both hands/arms to grasp or pull
Frequent lifting of objects weighing 3-20 pounds
Occasional bending while pulling and/or lifting objects weighing up to 50 pounds, or requiring up to 50 pounds of force to move
Occasional bending while pulling and/or lifting objects weighing up to 100 pounds or requiring up to 100 pounds of force to move with the assistance of another person as needed
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
Ability to attend and participate in meetings of various lengths
Additional Requirements:
Must live no longer than 30 minutes from farm being managed
Must be able to work every 3rd weekend
Must have valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to get to work and attend meetings
Compensation, Pay & Benefits:
Compensation rate of $50,000-$65,000 base salary, depending on experience

- Daily activities will include:
- Working with wean to finish pigs – 10-320-pound pigs
- Daily chores
- Maintaining exceptional health and biosecurity
- General maintenance of facilities
- Loading market hogs
- Data collection
- Weighing
- Daily record keeping
- Collection of diagnostics
- Feed ordering
- Communication with trial sponsors
- High degree of accuracy necessary
