- Material Inspection & Verification:
- Inspect all incoming materials, components, and supplies for compliance with purchase orders, specifications, and industry standards
- Verify material certifications, mill test reports (MTRs), and other required documentation for accuracy and completeness
- Ensure materials meet applicable codes (e.g., AWS, ASME, ASTM) and company specifications
- Identify and report any non-conforming materials, initiating appropriate corrective actions
- Work closely with procurement and vendors to resolve material discrepancies
- Documentation & Record-Keeping:
- Maintain accurate records of material inspections, certifications, and test reports
- Ensure all receiving documentation is properly completed and uploaded into the inventory management system
- Generate non-conformance reports (NCRs) for rejected materials and track corrective actions
- Assist in updating inspection checklists and documentation related to material receiving processes
- Warehouse & Inventory Coordination:
- Ensure proper labeling and traceability of materials upon acceptance
- Work with warehouse personnel to organize and store materials in designated locations
- Conduct periodic stock audits to verify inventory accuracy
- Assist in ensuring FIFO (First-In-First-Out) inventory management practices are followed
- Collaboration & Compliance:
- Work closely with fabrication, procurement, and quality teams to ensure smooth material flow
- Assist in supplier audits and evaluations when required
- Comply with all workplace safety regulations and company policies
- Support continuous improvement initiatives related to material inspection and quality control
Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent (Associate's or technical degree preferred)
- Minimum 2-5 years of experience in material receiving, quality inspection, or warehouse operations within a fabrication or manufacturing environment
- Knowledge of metal fabrication materials, including steel, aluminum, and alloys
- Familiarity with industry standards such as AWS, ASME, ASTM, and ISO 9001
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, material specifications, and purchase orders
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency in using measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and hardness testers
- Basic computer skills for data entry and document management (Excel, ERP/MRP systems)
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) or ASNT NDT Level I/II certification
