Pirouette Café & Wine Shop, 4000 Fairfax Drive, Arlington VA 22203.
Servers must comply with VABC requirements and show proof of passing RSVP training before starting the first shift. No exceptions.
Training is active. You will not be standing by and passively watching. Our competent and experienced servers will shadow YOU as they train you in our steps of service. You will greet guests and use our reservation system (Resy), open and pour wine bottles in front of seated guests, run food, discuss the menu, close checks using our POS system (Toast), clear and reset tables, help with sidework (polishing, restocking the server station). Come prepared to work the floor from the first day. Read our menus online, be familiar, ask questions. If you are shy, tend to hide out at the server station, freeze up when a guest approaches you with a question, require the lead or floor manager to continually ask you to check on your tables or talk to guests at the front..this is NOT the job for you. If you understand that this is an arrangement of being paid in exchange for a professional demeanor and approach to work, then keep reading. If you do not know much about wine, we will teach you. Each day on your shift will be another time to learn qualities about the bottles on our list (which is our whole wine shop). You will be expected to answer questions about the differences of the wines on our by the glass list. You will begin to speak confidently about these wines, but your responsibility to learn begins on your first shift. You are our wine shop staff & waitstaff; be prepared to help any guest with their selections. It is intimidating at first, less so over time.
