Description
The maintenance mechanic is responsible for repair and refurbishment of all Piscataqua equipment in a safe and professional way.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently
- Repairs and maintains, in accordance with diagrams, sketches, operation manuals, and manufacturer's specifications, machinery and mechanical equipment, such as engines, motors, pneumatic tools, and production machines and equipment, using hand tools, power tools, and precision-measuring and testing instruments
- Observes mechanical devices in operation and listens to their sounds to locate causes of trouble
- Dismantles devices to gain access to and remove defective parts, using hoists, cranes, hand tools, and power tools
- Inspects used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements, using rules, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments
- Starts devices to test their performance
- May set up and operate drill press, grinder, welders and other metalworking tools to make and repair parts
- Follow all safety rules and guidelines; such as Lock Out/Tag Out and PPE
Additional Duties
- Repair electrical equipment
- Fill in for Lead Mechanic in his absence
- May initiate purchase order for parts and machines
- Additional duties as assigned
Requirements
Education and/or Experience
Four to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills
Ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical journals, blueprints, and schematics.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to understand fractions, percentage, and a variety of weights and measures.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
