Job Summary:
PITC Institute is seeking a knowledgeable and compassionate Instructor of Gerontology to educate our Practical Nursing course students. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in geriatric care, a passion for teaching, and the ability to inspire students to provide high-quality care for the elderly population.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver a comprehensive curriculum focused on gerontology, addressing the physical, psychological, and social aspects of aging.
Conduct lectures, discussions, and practical sessions that engage students in understanding the complexities of geriatric care.
Assess student performance through examinations, assignments, and practical evaluations, providing constructive feedback to enhance learning.
Foster an interactive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes student participation and critical thinking.
Stay current with best practices, policies, and trends in gerontology, integrating relevant updates into course content.
Collaborate with faculty to ensure the gerontology curriculum aligns with overall Practical Nursing program objectives.
Provide mentorship and academic support to students, addressing their questions and guiding their professional development.
Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to program assessment and improvement initiatives.
Qualifications:
Master’s degree in Nursing, Gerontology, or a related field; Doctorate preferred.
Current nursing licensure with a strong focus on geriatric care.
Minimum of 3 years of clinical experience in gerontology or related fields, with teaching experience preferred.
In-depth knowledge of the aging process, common geriatric conditions, and holistic care approaches.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and motivate students effectively.
Proficient in the use of technology and innovative teaching methods.
Preferred Skills:
Experience in curriculum development and instructional design.
Familiarity with adult learning principles and diverse teaching methodologies.
Passion for promoting a positive view of aging and advocating for the elderly.
