Position Title: Inventory Parts Specialist/Cost Clerk
Reports To: Business Manager/Transportation Director
Supervises: No One
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities Required:
Computer skills in word processing, database management, inventory management and spreadsheets (BSIP experience preferred)
Knowledge of bookkeeping, accounting, and inventory control
Ability to work with a repair work order & perpetual inventory system(BSIP experience preferred)
Knowledge of stockroom management procedures
Ability to use office machines (calculator, typewriter, computer, copier, etc.)
Ability to accurately enter data (typing skills both alpha and numeric entries)
Knowledge of automotive/truck/bus mechanical operations
Knowledge to identify automotive/truck/bus repair parts
Ability to identify repair parts through the use of catalogs and/or physical inspection
Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions
Ability to maintain effective working relationship with other employees
Ability to maintain effective working relationship with vendors
Qualification Requirements (Educational & Physical):
High school diploma or equivalent
NC Driver's License, Commercial Drivers License (CDL Preferred) Class B or A with a P & S
Close visual acuity to operate computer terminal, to prepare and analyze data
Physical strength and agility sufficient to move relatively heavy objects and to perform manual labor for considerable periods. Must be able to exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 25 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Physical demand requirements are for Heavy Work
Physical strength and agility sufficient to perform repetitive motions while carrying up to fifty pounds
Be able to stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, stand, walk, climb, pull, lift, finger, grasp, talk, and hear
Job requires daily high time on task to maintain workload in a successful manner
Term of Employment: 12 months
Probationary Periods: Initial employment 90 days
Responsibilities & Duties:
Issue and record parts and supplies to mechanics
Receives and check-in (label and stock) parts and supplies
Proactively monitor inventory and assist in ordering of needed parts and supplies
Input required data (parts and etc.)
Review, check, and complete daily charge tickets
Add VRMS Codes as required before charge tickets are submitted to the Cost Clerk
Submit charge tickets to Cost Clerk the same day received (MI’s & PM’s and no later than the next day on all other tickets
Assist in maintaining an accurate inventory
Maintain the parts storage area in a neat, clean and orderly manner
Promote harmonious working relations with all employees.
Operate forklift
Perform any and all other duties as assigned by the Transportation Director
Working Environment:
Office area with air conditioning and parts storage areas without heat or air conditioning
Office work (data entry, word processing, etc.) is sedentary
Duties require handling auto/truck/bus parts
Parts storage areas are located in a two level section of the bus garage
Minimum/occasional exposure to automotive/diesel fumes
