What are the responsibilities and job description for the Safety Assistants/Monitors @ Transportation Department (Multiple Positions) position at Pitt County Schools?
The bus safety assistant helps to provide safe transportation to ourr exceptional children population
Reports to Lead Driver/Transportation Coordinator
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Obtain first aid/CPR certification.
- Permanent full time employment requires you obtain and maintain a Class B CDL with a P & S endorsement within 12 months
- Ensure that all activities conform to state school transportation guidelines.
- Communicate effectively with all members of the school district and community.
- React to change productively and handle other tasks as assigned.
- Appropriately operate all equipment as required.
- Comply with all Pitt County Schools Board of Education policies, rules and regulations.
- Physical ability to evacuate the school bus in the case of an emergency.
- Requires prolonged sitting or standing.
- Requires physical exertion to manually move, lift, carry, pull, or push heavy objects or materials.
- Requires stooping, kneeling, crawling, bending, turning and reaching.
- Requires climbing and balancing.
- Must be able to provide care for student personal care needs (runny nose, drooling mouth)
- Must be able to work indoors and outdoors year-round.
- Extensive bus travel required.
- Must be able to work in noisy, crowded, stressful environments.
- Must be able to work in and around dust, fumes and odors.
1. Immediately report accidents, assaults, destruction of property, and abusive behavior to the transportation supervisor.
2. Ensure that students wait, board and depart buses in a safe and orderly fashion.
3. Work with drivers and transportation supervisor in resolving problems with students.
4. Adhere to all district health and safety policies.
5. Requires regular attendance and/or physical presence at the job.
6. Other duties as assigned by the Transportation Director or Designee which are consistent with the general requirements and qualifications for the position.
