Pitt Ohio is seeking a highly qualified Trucking Professional to join our Cicero, IL Terminal team.
This role offers competitive compensation and benefits, including overtime pay after 40 hours worked, medical and prescription insurance with no weekly premiums, vision, dental, 401K, profit sharing, and vacation paid at 45 hours per week.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate a commercial vehicle safely while transporting general freight.
- Load and unload trailers, either individually or with assistance from dockworkers, utilizing mechanical freight handling equipment when necessary.
- Perform frequent lifting, pulling, pushing, and carrying of freight.
- Secure freight using strapping or alternative methods.
- Inspect the vehicle for defects and safe operating conditions as mandated by law and company policy.
- Comply with all Federal requirements concerning the transportation of Hazardous Materials.
- Drive tractor/trailer in all conditions in accordance with federal regulations.
- Maintain records necessary for compliance with state and federal regulations.
Requirements:
- A minimum age of 23 years old.
- Two years of verifiable driving experience (approximate 100,000 miles) or a diploma from an accredited driving school approved by Pitt Ohio.
- Pass a Pitt Ohio driving test administered by an approved trainer.
- Possess or obtain within 90 days a Haz-Mat and Tanker endorsement on their current valid driver's license issued by the resident state in which they reside.
- No record of a driver's license suspension or revocation for more than 30 days covering the 36-month period prior to the order date of a Motor Vehicle Record.
- No record of citation or conviction for any serious traffic violation during the 60-month period prior to the order date of a Motor Vehicle Record.
- Must pass a Department of Transportation (DOT) physical examination.
- Must consent to a pre-employment drug screen and provide documentation for a ten-year check on work history.
- Ability to read and write the English language and perform simple mathematical calculations.
