What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Instructional Professor - Manufacturing Engineering Technology position at Pittsburg State University Career Site Minimal?
The School of Automotive & Engineering Technology at Pittsburg State University is seeking applications for an Assistant Instructional Professor to teach in the Manufacturing Engineering Technology program. This is a 9-month, non-tenure earning appointment with an annual renewal based upon performance. Must be available to teach courses on campus.
Duties and Responsibilities
Teaching: 70%
- Instruct 9-12 credit hours per semester/18-24 credit hours graduate hours per AY as assigned in the areas of manufacturing and metalcasting.
Service: 20%
- Coordinate appropriate workshop/seminar activities
- Host the annual Investment Casting Institute (ICI) conference at PSU.
- Engage in departmental and institutional service, such as committee work, participate in faculty meetings, and support of departmental events or initiatives.
- Collect data and author the Foundry Education Foundation (FEF) Self-Study report
- Host and coordinate the onsite visit for FEF accreditation and certification.
Professional Development: 5%
- Represent PSU as a FEF Key Professor.
- Attend the national FEF and American Foundry Society (AFS) conferences.
- Accompany students to the annual College Industry Conference (CIC).
Student Mentorship: 5%
- Serve as academic mentor to students
- Advise student professional organizations
Education and Experience
Required Education and Experience -
- Masters in Engineering Technology or a related field of study, or progress toward a Master of Engineering Technology degree
- Minimum three years of industry experience in manufacturing or related business experience
- One year of hands-on experience with metalcasting processes and equipment.
Preferred Education and Experience -
- Master's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering Technology, or a similar area of study
- One year of teaching experience
- Professional certifications

Appointment length: 9-month academic year with renewal based upon performance.
Salary: Commensurate with experience
